Nomination guidelines below.
Deputy Channing Briese
Channing, as the 2025 recipient of the Alex Troy Award, embodies everything this honor stands for—loyalty, selflessness, and always showing up when it matters most. He’s that go-to guy, the one who answers the call without hesitation, no matter the time or situation. His unwavering support and friendship make him someone worth having in your corner, and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
Dough McConnaha
"Doug McConnaha received the Mathaforf Award because he has been, without question, the kind of mentor this award was meant to honor. Throughout all of high school, Doug was more than just a teacher or advisor—he was a steady, trusted guide who genuinely cared about helping me grow, not only in skill, but in confidence and character. He took the time to teach me new things, explain the “why” behind them, and make sure I truly understood. He never made me feel small for not knowing something—he simply showed up, over and over again, to walk beside me and help me figure it out. Doug had a way of seeing potential where I didn’t, of pushing me forward when I doubted myself, and of reminding me that growth comes through effort and resilience. He led by example—not with titles or authority, but with presence, compassion, and a quiet belief in the people around him. Like Tyce Mathaforf, Doug didn’t hold back what he knew; he shared freely and fully, because he believed in preparing others for what lies ahead. This award is about mentorship, selflessness, and heart—and Doug McConnaha embodies all of that. He didn’t just teach me skills—he taught me how to believe in myself, how to lead, and how to show up for others the way he always showed up for me.” - Justiz Daricek
